I have the honor to inform you that I received a letter from Mr. M. McCooper (H.B.M. Consul at this Port) informing me that on the night of the 3rd instant two boats would leave Double Island loaded with kidnapped Coolies bound to Macao to be sold as slaves and requesting my assistance in detaining them, as he knew that it was the earnest desire of the Mandarins to stop such practices.
